Hybrid Cars are New - to George W. Bush
The hybrid vehicle has just hit the road recently, as you know. --George W. Bush

Actually hybrids have been available since 1999. But it's still good to talk to the rest of us like we're learning things as he is. Follow the scripted hilarity here.

Paying for Personal Carbon Emissions

Mrs. Ober has directed me to post about Carbonfund.org. Apparently limousine liberals - like herself - like to pay money (that they have in spades) to offset the damage their lavish lifestyles have on the earth.

From the website:
Carbon offsets enable anyone to reduce their climate footprint by supporting projects, typically energy efficiency, renewable energy, sequestration, biomass, etc. that reduce carbon dioxide emissions to offset one’s own climate footprint.

Around the Musical Horn

Spring is here and that means new listening. Tops on the list so far - in anticipation of the new Tool record - is the new Built to Spill. Titled You in Reverse I find it to be one of the few truly special records. After listening to it several times it is now up there as one of my favourites.

The Flaming Lips are back with a new offering titled, At War with the Mystics. As usual, the Lips offer an intense, thought-provoking, and sonically challenging record to the listening public. ...and yes, I had to go to the thesaurus for that last sentence. Not for everybody, the Lips continue to produce first-rate material for the discerning ear. That's my way of saying I'm a music snob.

Morrissey has released Ringleader of the Tormentors to mixed reviews. I'll purchase any Morrissey record anytime; that's a given. But how does this record standup for other, less loyal Moz listeners? Well, I doubt most find it too compelling. In the end, it is typical Morrissey in the sense that I like it, I bought it without hearing it, and it offers some incredible tracks. However, there are several tracks and a feel that doesn't seem to push this record over the top. But let's be honest about the aforementioned "top:" it is a damn high threshold.

Death and Blogging

No, I'm not dead. Yes, I still update this blog. ...just not with any regularity it seems.

I've been on the road a fair amount lately. That coupled with working hard.
